Hello, beautiful, welcome to another episode of this Thing Called Wellness. I'm your host, hannon Martin. Today, we're going to talk about vision, goals and growth as we wrap up 2024 and step into 2025. Let's talk about it. I know this time of year can feel like a whirlwind. Everywhere we look, there are ads for planners, systems and courses promising you the beginning to the perfect new year. Right, your social media feeds and inboxes are buzzing with messages like buy my program to lay the proper foundation for success, or this is the only way to achieve your goals. Honestly, it can be a bit much. I've been hitting that unsubscribe button and taking a step back to ask myself what do I really need in the new year? Maybe you're feeling the same way. If so, you're not alone. So today, let's keep it simple. We're going to talk about reflecting on 2024, setting goals that feel good to you, deciding if vision boards are a yay or a nay, and picking the tools that works best for your journey Reflecting on 2024.
Shannon D. Martin:All right, before we start talking about 2025, let's take a moment to reflect on this year. How was 2024 for you and I mean really, how was it For me? 2024 was a mix of highs, lows and lessons I didn't see coming. Some things went beautifully and others well. They were tough, and that's okay. Such is life. Right Lately, I've been journaling, planning with my business bestie and asking myself a few simple questions like what am I proud of?
Shannon D. Martin:What did I learn? What do I want to leave behind as I step into 2025? Taking time to reflect helps us see just how far we've come and, trust me, you've come farther than you realize. So if you haven't taken a moment to pause and look back, I encourage you to do it. Sit down with a journal, take a deep breath and just let it all out. You might be surprised at the clarity it brings Setting goals for 2025.
Shannon D. Martin:Now that we've looked back, let's look ahead. It's goal setting time. I know the idea of setting goals can sometimes feel a lot. Trust me, I've buffered a couple of times just thinking about it. But here's the thing you don't have to have everything figured out Huge right. This year, I'm keeping it simple. Instead of this long list of goals that stress me out and creates buffering, I'm choosing three to five goals that feel right in my gut, goals that make me feel excited and aligned, not overwhelmed. Here are a few of mine.
Shannon D. Martin:I want to grow this podcast and connect more with you, my amazing listeners. I want to launch my wellness subscription and make it a joyful experience. I want to take better care of my mind, body and spirit. More movement, more meditation and prayer, and more grace. What about you? What feels right for 2025? Think about what lights you up and what will get you out of bed in the morning, excited to create.
Shannon D. Martin:I remember just recently I was talking to my son and he asked me Mom, what fills you up with joy? What could you do for free? Remember those old teachings? It took me back to those, but it's so pure and yet so simple. So write out your goals, speak them into existence or share them with someone you trust, like your business bestie. When you put your goals out there, they start to feel real and you give yourself that extra nudge to make them happen.
Shannon D. Martin:Vision boards Yay or nay? Right, okay, let's talk about vision boards. We keep hearing all the stars, all the I guess you can say well-influenced people talk about vision boards. Are you a vision board person? I feel like people are either all in or a hard pass. A couple of years ago, I loved making them, gathering pictures, gluing things down and getting creative Recent years meh, you know. Recently, just the thought of it felt like one more thing on my never-ending to-do list. Being honest, my business bestie she's not all into the vision boards, she's more analytical, so she's creating a spiritual list instead, something she can look at daily, pray over and use to help bring her visions to life. I love that approach too.
Shannon D. Martin:The point is to have something that keeps your goals front and center. The point is to have something that keeps your goals front and center, whether it's a vision board, a list, sticky notes on your mirror, whatever. Do what works for you. I'm still deciding if I'll do a vision board this year, even though you know I've done them before. But what about you? Yay or nay on the vision board, planning tools and staying on track? Big one right.
Shannon D. Martin:Let's talk about staying organized. I've already picked out my planner for 2025. And can I just say there's nothing like opening a fresh planner at the start of a new year. I'm a paper and pen kind of girl. There's just something about writing things down, about stickers and all the things that makes it stick for me. But if digital tools work for you, go for it. You know apps like Trello Notion or even Google Calendar can be game changers, and sometimes I use them too, more so the Google Calendar. But the key here is use what works for you and remember plans are just a guide. Life happens, so be flexible, adapt, adjust and give yourself grace along the way way.
Shannon D. Martin:Closing 2024 with intention. As we wrap up, I want to invite you to close out 2024 with intention. We have literally two and a half weeks left in 2024. That's insane to even think about. I want you to take a moment to pause, breathe and reflect. For one, you made it through this year, and that's something to celebrate.
Shannon D. Martin:One thing I haven't tried before, but I'm going to give it a try this year, is writing a letter to my future self and setting an intention for the new year. I want to take some time to reflect on what I'm proud of, what I'm grateful for and what I'm ready to let go of. And for 2025, I'll be centering that intention around healing. Here's the intention sentence, or just the intention within itself, I'm setting for you In 2025, I will embrace my healing journey with patience, courage and love. I will honor my mind, body and spirit by giving myself grace, releasing what no longer serves me and creating space for growth and joy. What about you? What intentions feel right for you? Whatever it is, hold on to it, because you are capable of amazing things.
Shannon D. Martin:Thank you for spending time with me today. I hope you're feeling a little more inspired and ready to step into 2025 with big intentions. If you're setting goals, making vision boards or just figuring things out, I'd love to hear about it. Connect with me on social media and let's cheer each other on. Until next time, give yourself some grace, take it one day at a time and remember you've got this. Love you, girl.
